Russian Gazprom equals Georgia to European Union countries
The price for Russian gas for Georgia can be raised from $110 to $230 for 1,000 cubic meters next year. As a Gazprom spokesperson told reporters, next year contracts have not been signed yet and the discussion is still underway. Georgia’s Minister for Economic Reforms Kakha Bendukidze confirmed that the country’s government was ready for raising the gas price by Russia: I do not know yet, whether it is the final price, but it is absolutely clear that it is not a market price; it is an absolutely politically based decision.
Georgian media have already started saying that $230 is the price by which Gazprom exports gas to Europen Union member-countries. Ukraine receives the Russian gas at the price of $130, Moldova $170, Latvia for $217 for 1,000 cubic meters. Now Georgia buys the Russian gas at the price of $110 for 1,000 cubic meters.
