President of North Ossetia becomes citizen of South Ossetia
On November 5, President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity handed in the city of Tskhinval (Tskhinvali in other transcription) a passport of the unrecognized republic to president of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Taimuraz Mamsurov, REGNUM correspondent reports.
Taimuraz Mamsurov took part in a meeting with the Tskhinval community. He confirmed his earlier publicized statement of support of the acting South Ossetian president in the coming elections. I have a colleague in the South of Ossetia whom I can rely upon at any time. We have no problem solving issues concerning both of our republics. I am not agitating for Kokoity, however, I regard him as an accomplished politician, and think that the people must take the right choice, he said.
Speaking of referendum to be held November 12, the leader of North Ossetia remarked that each nation has the right to self-determination, including South Ossetia. We will provide every opportunity for the citizens of South Ossetia staying in our republic to take part in the elections and referendum, Mamsurov assured.
On November 5, issuing passports of South Ossetia on the territory of North Ossetia has been completed. Over 15,000 people have become received them.
