Georgia may stay without Russian gas

Read it in Russian

Gazprom does not exclude gas supply’s ceasing to Georgia. According to statement of Gazprom director Alexander Medvedev, the supply will be ceased, if no appropriate contract is made. “I would not call it cutting off – it is quite normal market practice in case of a contract absence,” the Gazprom spokesman stated adding that Gazprom pricing policy “fully corresponds with regional prices.” At that, according to him, Georgia may achieve decrease of price, if it offers Gazprom some of its energy assets. “Georgia, as well as other countries, may offer its assets. However, if there is no agreement, there will be no supply,” he stressed.

It is worth stressing; at present, Tbilisi pays $110 per 1,000 cubic meters. Meanwhile, price for Georgian side is determined at level of $230 per 1,000 cubic meters.
