Observer: ''Many western countries have to learn democracy from South Ossetia''
''Many countries in the west have to learn democracy from South Ossetia,'' head of the mission of international observers in South Ossetia Robert Smolyansky said at a press conference at the International Press Center in Tskhinval on Nov 12.''We are very glad to visit South Ossetia. We emphasize that the level of democracy in South Ossetia is very high,'' Smolyansky stressed. He also pointed to the high voter turnout at the today's vote, REGNUM correspondent reported.
To remind, voter turnout at the referendum and presidential election in South Ossetia on Nov 12 made 64% on 14:00 local time. The highest turnout was registered in the Leningory region – 86%, the lowest in the Java region – 41%. In other regions the figures are as follows: the Tskhinval city, capital of South Ossetia – 60.7%, Tskhinval region – 79%, Znaur region – 81.7%.
