Kokoity to Davis: Seeking independence by people can be changed by no decision of an international institution
People’s will is sacred, and the international community cannot but take it into account, South Ossetia’s President Eduard Kokoity said at the International Press Center in Tskhinvali.
As a REGNUM correspondent reports, the South Ossetian president commented on the statement made by Terry Davis, Council of Europe Secretary General. In particular, he said: On November 12, a people’s revolution really occurred in South Ossetia. The South Ossetian people unanimously chose for independence, liberty and well-being, as they did 16 years ago. People’s aspiration can change no decision by any international institution. And for me, it is honor to serve such people.
It is worth mentioning, Council of Europe secretary General Terry Davis called the referendum unnecessary and unhelpful. The vote did nothing to bring forward the search for a peaceful political solution, Davis said and added that the outcomes would not be recognized by the international community.
