Russian prosecution starts criminal proceedings on Litvinenko’s murder
On December 7, relatives and friends of Alexander Litvinenko conducted a pray at London central mosque before his funeral. The place of burial is not announced. Spokesman for the central mosque Gausuddin Siddiki informed that Litvinenko expressed willingness to convert to Islam ten days before being put to hospital, RSN informs.
Russian Prosecutor General’s Office started criminal proceedings on murder of Russian citizen Alexander Litvinenko and murderous assault on Russian citizen Dmitry Kovtun, the official web-site of the agency informs. Within frameworks of rendering legal assistance to British investigators the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office investigated several circumstances of death of ex-FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko. The investigation established that Litvinenko died as a result of poisoning by a radioactive nuclide, and Kovtun, who met Litvinenko in London in November 2006, was tested positive for an illness connected with poisoning by a radioactive nuclide.
The proceeding are based on charges of murder committed in a publicly dangerous way and murderous assault of two and more persons in a publicly dangerous way.17:34 12/07/2006
