Russia presses for opportunity to question Berezovsky
Russian prosecutors are pressing the UK asking for a possibility for Russian investigators to go to London to investigate poisoning of former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko and question Boris Berezovsky.
As The Financial Times informs, it might result in increasing political and diplomatic tensions between the countries on Litvinenko’s case. In recent days, the UK government has been trying to keep such attempts of pressure in secret in order to avoid the issue turning into a full-blown row, sources in the government told the newspaper.
According to an insider, officially we have no comment other than that this is a police investigation that has to be allowed to run its course. It's when the investigation reaches a conclusion that we risk a major political and diplomatic tussle.
Meanwhile, experts of the Federal Radiation Protection Agency believe that trails of radioactivity in Hamburg apartments of Russian businessman Dmitry Kovtun were most possibly left by polonium 210. According to German media, German police have been examining apartments of Dmitry Kovtun and his relatives in Hamburg together with Scotland Yard officers, who are investigating Litvinenko’s case.
