Polonium 210 to be possibly assigned category of extremely dangerous isotopes
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is considering a possibility of strengthening control over storage and use of polonium 210. According to the New York Times, the issue was raised at IAEA sessions in connection with Litvinenko’s case, the newspaper notes.
Experts plan to start elaborating new standards of radiation safety. It is not ruled out that polonium 210 will be assigned to the category of extremely dangerous isotopes.
