Moldovan president meets US ambassador twice a day
On December 14, Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin twice met the US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Michael Kirby, press office of the Moldovan president reported, a REGNUM correspondent informs. During the first meeting, as it was reported, prospects of extending the Moldovan-US relations, as well as US support for processes of developing democratic institutions in Moldova. For the second time, the Moldovan leader and the US ambassador had a discussion at a three-party meeting with participation Vice President of Millennium Challenge Corp. Maureen Harrington.
Under results of the meeting Voronin also noted significance of including Moldova into the list of countries that will be rendered assistance by the corporation. He also said that the Moldovan government will elaborate a special action plan aimed at maximal involvement of the republic into MCC programs. From her side, the vice president expressed confidence that the whole population of the republic will be able to use advantages of the program. Further successes in fighting poverty, corruption, securing economic growth as well as settling the Transdnestr conflict will allow the nation gain from advantages of the Millennium Challenge program, Harrington noted.
