Interparliamentary Assembly of Commonwealth for Democracy and Rights of Nations addresses international community calling to recognize results of referenda in Abkhazia, Transdnestr and South Ossetia
The Interparliamentary Assembly of Commonwealth for Democracy and Rights of Nations passed a resolutio0n addressed to international community calling to recognize results of the referenda in Abkhazia, Transdnestr and South Ossetia, a REGNUM correspondent informs.
The statement, particularly, says: The principle of international law on equal rights and self-determination of nations is one of key regulations in the world system of justice and the most significant aspect of self-identification of a nation as a subject of law, ignoring of which is connected with the risk of breaching the stability on the world. As authors of the statement insist, the Republic of Abkhazia, the Transdnestrian Moldovan Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia were established under the good will of nations living in their territories under strict observance of principles and norms of the international law. At the same time, actions of Georgian and Moldovan leadership taken within recent years had violent nature towards citizens of the abovementioned republics, which is inadmissible and contradicts to principles and norms of the international law, as well as earlier signed agreements. Grounding on what was said above, the authors called the international community to recognize results of the referenda held in the republics and establish relations with the Republic of Abkhazia, the Transdnestrian Moldovan Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia as with independent and sovereign states, equal subjects of the international legal relations.
