Russia seeks including clause on automatic lifting sanctions into UN SC resolution on Iran
Russia seeks including a clause on automatic lifting of sanctions into the UN Security Council resolution on Iran in case Tehran fulfills all claims, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov said. At the same time, the minister said that the UN Security Council should not replace the IAEA in solving the Iranian nuclear problem, Golos Rossii Radio informs.
During a series of talks representatives of five UN SC permanent member-countries and Germany managed to agree on the text of the final UN resolution that includes a number of sanctions against Iran taking into account that it failed to implement previous resolutions and refused to halt uranium enrichment. As Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin informed earlier, only some technical moments are left to agree upon. At the same time, Tehran stressed its right to have peaceful nuclear technologies within framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
