French foreign ministry calls Iran to come to reason
The French foreign ministry called Iranian leadership to come to reason and go back to the negotiation table. At a news conference in Toulouse French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy explained the UN Security Council resolution on Iran adopted on December 23. As the minister said that for the first time the international community addressed to Iran not only with a clear-cut and tough warning, but it was acting as a united entity. The sanctions concern both the nuclear and the missile programs by Iran. According to Douste-Blazy, it is now Iran’s turn to act, and everyone hopes that Iran would come out of the isolation and back to the negotiation table.
On December 24, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called the resolution a piece of torn paper and promised that those who voted for the resolution will soon be sorry for it. The Iranian president noted that the West lost its chance to improve its relations with Iran.
