Regions Party believes NATO referendum to be a criterion of democracy in Ukraine
Ukrainian Regions Party supports the initiative to hold a referendum on Ukraine’s joining NATO. And any confrontation to it is caused by the fact only that will of the Ukrainian people can give up for lost Euro-Atlantic ambitions of some politicians, Member of Donetsk Regional Council (Regions Party) Igor Chichasov told a REGNUM correspondent today, on January 10.
The Regions Party is completely for such a referendum. Communists and Socialists will also speak for the referendum. Nationalists, of course, will speak against it. It is evident. Holding the NATO referendum will show that Ukrainians do not want to see their country in this military and political bloc, henceforth it will give up for lost Euro-Atlantic ambitions of some politicians. Besides, holding the NATO referendum will show that there is democracy in Ukraine, and significant political decisions are not made without participation of our people, the MP said.
