Chisinau continues insisting that peacekeeping operation in Transdnestr is ineffective
The peacekeeping operation in Transdnestr is ineffective, as illegal check-points of the Transdnestr side are controlling the peacekeepers, Ion Leahu, Moldova’s representative of the Joint Control Commission, announced on January 11 commenting on results of the first session of the commission in 2007, a REGNUM correspondent informs. According to Leahu, no principal agreements were reached at the first session. Key problems remain unsettled. Cases were registered when unconstitutional border and customs check-points together with military observers stopped motor vehicles and checked documents of the drivers and their luggage. It is inadmissible. Such cases continue to repeat, as the Russian and Transdnestr sides allow them to do it, Leahu said.
At the same time, according to Transdnestr representative of the Joint Control Commission Alexander Porozhan, the situation in the security area is under control.
