Outbreak of deadly H5N1 bird flu strain registered in Japan
H5N1 bird flu virus strain was the cause of a bird flu outbreak at a poultry farm in Japan, the Japanese Farm Ministry in formed on January 16.
For the recent 24 hours, 12,000 chickens were disposed in Miyazaki province, where the outbreak occurred. Quarantine within distance of 10 km will be imposed for three weeks in Kiyotake town, where the bird flu strain was found.
Last time, H5N1 strain was registered in Japan in 2004.
