Iranian foreign ministry: Tehran is ready to consider a possibility of talks with USA on regional problems
Iran does not intend to halt its activity in uranium enrichment: the question of suspending its activity in the field has no logical or legal grounds, so it is inadmissible for Iran, Iranian foreign ministry’s spokesman Mohammad Ali Hoseini announced at a news conference in Iran on January 21, saying that the nuclear issue in Iran is a national issue.
At the same time, the diplomat said that Tehran is ready to consider a possibility of having talks with the USA concerning regional problems, in case there is such official proposal from Americans. In this connection, Hoseini criticized again the new President George Bush’s strategy in Iraq saying it is aimed at radicalization and exacerbation of tension in the region. Iran confirms once again that instability and absence of security in Iraq meets no interest of the regional countries and is a result of foreign troops’ presence in the country, the spokesman is quoted by IRNA as saying.
