Russian prosecution: Lugovoi will not be extradited to UK
Russian businessman extradite Andrei Lugovoi will not be extradited to Great Britain; in case of necessity he will face Russian justice, a source at the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said, Ekho Moskvy informs.
Earlier, British media reported that the Scotland Yard collected enough evidence to bring a charge of murdering Alexander Litvinenko. According to the Guardian, Lugovoi could be exchanged for Boris Berezovsky.
Lugovoi did not take reports on his possible extradition seriously.
Andrei Lugovoi and Dmitry Kovtun met former Russian FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko at a London hotel on November 1, 2006. On the same day, Litvinenko fell ill and on November 23 he died of polonium 210 poisoning.
