Ukrainian foreign minister resigned
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Boris Tarasyuk sent in his resignation after a long talk with President Viktor Yushchenko. Tarasyuk announced the decision to the media by himself yesterday’s night, a REGNUM correspondent reports. We had a long discussion with the president, and it was me who offered to resign, and the president accepted my resignation on results of our discussion, Boris Tarasyuk particularly said.
Earlier, on December 1, 2006, the Ukrainian Supreme Rada gave its consent for dismissing Boris Tarasyuk from the foreign minister’s position. On December 5, Shevchenko District Court (Kiev) suspended the resolution. On January 4, Kiev Court of Appeal canceled the verdict of the Shevchenko District Court and sent the file for further consideration, a session on which took place yesterday, on January 30. In particular, the court decided to summon President Yushchenko as a third party in the case, because the decision of the Supreme Rada breached presidential authority. Besides, the court decided to make another break in the trial – up to February 13.
