Abkhaz veterinary service denies reports of Georgian television on bird flu in Abkhazia
Abkhaz authorities deny reports of Rustavi 2 TV-Channel on a bird flu outbreak in the republic. The channel informed that cases of bird flu were registered in Gudaut District and insists that Abkhaz authorities conceal facts of a bird flu outbreak and, possibly, the outbreak came to neighboring Russia’s Krasnodar Territory from Abkhazia. As a REGNUM correspondent in Sokhumi informs, Abkhaz State Veterinary Service called the Rustavi 2 report a fiction.
It is worth mentioning, all security measures are taken on the Russian-Abkhaz on the Psou River: motor vehicles that cross the border are subjected to disinfection, the Georgian-Abkhaz border on the Inguri River was closed and import of poultry and products was banned since the beginning of last year, when an avian influenza outbreak was registered in Georgia.
