Read it in Russian

Ukraine is interested in recommencing direct supply of gas from Turkmenistan without any middlemen, deputy head of the presidential secretariat Alexander Chalyi announced referring to a meeting of the presidents of the two countries, Radio Liberty reports. According to Alexander Chalyi, in three days a delegation of the Ukrainian parliament will visit Ashgabat for talks on the issue. It is worth mentioning, at a meeting on BFebruary 14, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov expressed their confidence that Turkmenistan would remain “strategic gas supplier for Ukraine.”

As REGNUM informed earlier, direct gas supplies of Turkmen gas were suspended in the beginning of 2006. RosUkrEnergo A.G. Company (Switzerland) is an exclusive gas supplier in Ukraine now, in accordance with the Russian-Ukrainian agreements reached in the beginning of 2006. The company supplies gas that it buys from Russia and Central Asian countries. According to the contracts signed in 2006, in 2007 RosUkrEnergo is to sell to UkrGazEnergo (Ukraine) not less than 55 billion cubic meters of gas at the price of $130 per 1,000 cubic meters. The gas price of $130 is envisaged by the Ukrainian state budget for 2007. In 2006, the gas price for Ukraine was $95.
