Veterinary inspector: Bird flu does not threaten to residents of Moscow Region
There is no threat of humans of being infected by bird flu in Moscow Region, Chief Veterinary Inspector in Moscow Region Valery Sitnikov told REGNUM today. According to him, specialists of the veterinary service conducted an epizootological survey and dead birds were seòå to the Central Research Veterinary Laboratory to examine causes of the plague.
It is known that the infected birds were bought from one and the same buyer at the Bird Market in Moscow. The dead birds were burned down; complex disinfection of households was conducted. Their owners are now examined by medical workers, Sitnikov said. He also stressed that there are no premises for humans being infected by the H5N1 avian influenza strain. AT the same time, control over sanitary conditions in settlements and conditions of poultry trade. As Sitnikov stressed the urgent measures allowed localizing pestholes of the bird flu and stabilize the epidemic situation.
The poultry can be eaten, Valery Sitnikov said.
As REGNUM reported before, last week, poultry plague was registered in five districts of Moscow Region. All fact occurred at households.
