Russia will support UN in settling Iranian nuclear problem
Russia intends to support UN effort in settling the issues connected with Iran’s nuclear program. As Bloomberg reports, the statement was made by Rosatom head Sergey Kiriyenko, who is now on official visit in Tokyo.
The US accuses Iran that its nuclear program is only a cover to create nuclear weapons, and Iran says that intends to produce electricity. Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced on April 9 that his country started industrial uranium enrichment.
At the same time, the head of the Russian atomic agency expressed doubt that Iran started industrial uranium enrichment. Rosatom website quotes Kiriyenko as saying that even despite increasing number of centrifuges announced by Iran, Rosatom experts believe that it cannot be called industrial level of production.
Head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Gholyam Reza Agazadeh announced on April 11 that the country was planning to install 50,000 centrifuges at a nuclear facility located 150 miles south from Tehran.
