Mstislav Rostropovich, 80, dies in Moscow
A great musician, world-known violoncellist, People's artist of the USSR Mstislav Rostropovich, 80, died today in a Moscow hospital.
As a source close to Rostropovich's family told reporters today, Rostropovich died today in hospital in Moscow after a long illness.
Members of teh Russian State Duma commemorated Mstislav Rostropovich at tehir session today under a proposal by film director Stanislav Govorukhin.
On February 26, Mstislav Rostropovich was awarded the order For Services to teh Homeland by President Vladimir Putin for his outstanding contribution to the world art of music and many years of creative activity.
Earlier, on April 12, Mstislav Rostropovich was delivered to hospital. He felt ill in December during a trip to Voronezh and was released from hospital in March.
