Armenian Democratic Party leader about international observers: They saw what they needed to see
Armenia’s Democratic Party will conduct serious analysis of the parliamentary elections held on Sunday and will make an appropriate decision; of course, there is some part of the party leader’s blame in the defeat, leader of the Democrats Aram Sarkisyan told a REGNUM correspondent.
He noted he would rather not give his assessment to the election process, as it would look like an attempt to find an excuse for their own losses. We have not real facts of fraud, and, it is worth mentioning, there was not so much action at polling stations, Sarkisyan said adding that the only thing that left the party perplexed was the very high turnover in provinces, 50% of men in which are abroad. At the same time, according to the Democratic Party leader, undoubtedly, comparing to the disgraceful things at the 2003 parliamentary elections, during the current campaign some progress was fixed: at least, everything was calm at polling stations. The Democratic Party leader used it as an explanation of positive assessment given to the elections by international observers. They saw what they needed to see, he noted stressing that he had no grounds to suspect international observers of being biased. Speaking on a new parliament, Sarkisyan noted that the balance of forces changed: Practically, one party took the responsibility for the country’s future, and it is to be held accountable for it.
