Russian prosecutor General’s Office answered to UK via media
The Office of the Russian Prosecution General has made an official statement in connection with charging Russian citizen Andrei Lugovoi with murder of ex-FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko. The statement was broadcasted by the Russian state television.
According to the statement, Russia has not received official documents from London yet. The Russian prosecution knows only about publications and the statement of the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK.
Litvinenko fled to Great Britain in 2000. Lugovoi and his colleague Dmitry Kovtun met Litvinenko in London on November 1, 2006. After the meeting Litvinenko fell ill and was hospitalized. On November 23, he died in London. Forensic medical experts found traces of radioactive polonium 210 in his body.
