Berezovsky calls international community to impose sanctions on Russia
Boris Berezovsky, a Russian tycoon living in London, announced in an interview to The Financial Times that he is financing The Other Russia opposition party. The newspaper reminds that earlier, one of the party leaders, Garry Kasparov denied that Berezovsky was financing the party, as the coalition had no contacts with those, who could undermine their reputation.
In the interview, Berezovsky also called the UK and the international community to impose sanctions on Russia, if the Kremlin refuses to extradite Andrei Lugovoi. In Russia, Lugovoi is considered to be a witness in the criminal proceeding instituted by the Office of the Russian Prosecutor General on the case of attempt on ex-FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko and Dmitry Kovtun. The British prosecution charged Lugovoi with murder and claims for his extradition.
Former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko died on November 23, 2006, of poisoning by radioactive polonium 210.
