Russian-Georgian foundation member: Our goal is to unite Russian and Georgian people
Two years ago we established the Foundation for Unity of the Russian and Georgian People. We want the friendship we had between our nations in the Soviet times to be restored, chair of the Foundation’s trustee fund, Cosmonaut Alexander Volkov announced today while speaking at the "Russia and Georgia: from Conflict to Cooperation" round-table discussion at REGNUM press center in Moscow.
Our goal is to unite the Russian and Georgian people. In no way, it will be a political one, Volkov stressed. First of all, we mean cultural and then economic cooperation. We have adopted official documents on cooperation in the two fields.
Many Georgian prominent figures are disappointed that there are no Russian schools in Georgia, Alexander Volkov noted. We are going to seek opening of Russian schools in Georgia and Georgian schools in Russia. Because language is one of the uniting factors.
