Armenian foreign minister: There are no problems between Washington and Yerevan
There are no problems between Washington and Moscow, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan told reporters today, commenting on a statement made by US Charge d’Affaires Anthony Godfrey that intensification of the Armenian-Iranian relations stirs concern by Washington.
As a REGNUM correspondent reports, according to Oskanyan, Armenia’s relations will all the countries and especially with its neighbors are quite transparent, and there is nothing in them that can stir concern. I am unaware in what context Anthony Godfrey made the statement, the Armenian foreign minister concluded.
Earlier, US Charge d’Affaires Anthony Godfrey sounded concern of his country about intensification of the relations between Armenia and Iran and noted that the Armenian authorities were informed about it. According to him, the USA is going to seek that the Armenian government set Iran on track of fulfillment of its obligations to the international community. It is worth mentioning, there have been no diplomatic relations between Washington and Tehran after the hostage crisis with the US embassy in Iran in 1980. The USA also ardently opposes the Iranian nuclear dossier. However, Tehran insists it works on its nuclear program for peaceful purposes only.
