Russia opposes new resolution on Kosovo
Russian diplomats are criticizing the third version of the resolution on Kosovo status. Russia insists that the question of the status of the territory can be settled only in the process of dialog between Pristina and Belgrade. The talks in this case must not be limited in time.
As NTV reports, the document prepared by the United States, France and Great Britain has not been officially introduced to the UN Security Council, but it is already actively discussed by interested parties. According to Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, the problem of predetermining the Kosovo independence has not been withdrawn from the agenda. Through rhetorical cobwebs of the diplomatic language a conclusion becomes visible that within 120 days, no matter whether the sides come to agreement or not, the Ahtisaari Plan will come into force, Lavrov said.
The new resolution is to be submitted for discussion of the UN Security Council after July 20.
