Our Ukraine opinion: Yanukovich serves Russia, so gas prices for Ukraine are growing
Member of the Ukrainian Supreme Rada Alexander Chornovolenko (Our Ukraine) believes that Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich serves Russia, so the gas prices are growing. His statement was released by Our Ukraine – People’s defense press office today, reports a REGNUM correspondent.
The Russian factor influences pricing for gas in Ukraine. We are dependant on our Eastern neighbor, as it is a monopolist in gas delivery, so Russia dictates its conditions. We are using either the Russian gas or Turkmen transported via the Russian territory, the MP said. The agreement that Yanukovich signed with Russia will not secure Ukraine from growing gas prices, but on the contrary will stimulate the growth, he also stressed. During the last parliamentary election campaign the Regions Party was telling lies, when they promised to decrease the gas prices. The Regions Party has always sympathized with Russia, so no wonder that the gas price is increasing, Chornovolenko also added commenting on a statement made by Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Boyko regarding the fact that the price for gas to be supplied in Ukraine in 2008 will increase by 10% at most.
