Antibodies to A-H5 bird flu strain have been registered by wild ducks in another Siberian region. As a REGNUM correspondent was told today at press office of the Novosibirsk Regional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor (state agriculture watchdog), the antibodies were found in blood serum of three wild birds in the Republic of Khakassia.

Earlier, probable carriers of the A-H5 virus were found among wild birds in Altai and Krasnoyarsk Territories, the Republic of Buryatia, Ust-Ordyn Autonomous District and Tomsk Region.

Overall, over 4,600 tests are taken during the monitoring of bird flu in North Federal District. 80 samples were posted positive for the antibodies.

As of August 3, 2007, no cases of bird flu infection have been registered among wild birds and poultry.
