Ten people detained on assassination of reporter Anna Politkovskaya
Ten persons are detained on murder case of Anna Politkovskaya, reporter of Novata Gazeta newspaper, eight of them are arrested. Soon, charges will be brought against them, a REGNUM correspondent was told at Moscow City Court today.
The theory that the reporter’s murder was caused by her professional activity is still the key one in the investigation. However, according to the head of the Russian Investigation Committee Alexander Bastrykin, the case has turned to be more complicated that it had been expected before. At present moment, six possible theories of the crime are being considered.
Anna Politkovskaya was killed in Moscow, while entering her apartment blocks in Lesnaya Street on October 7, 2006. On the same day, Russia’s Prosecutor-General Yuri Chaika took the investigation under control.
