Read it in Russian

As many as six political forces have real chances to enter the Ukrainian Supreme Rada: the regions Party, Yulia Timoshenko’s Bloc (BYT), Our Ukraine – People’s Defense, the Socialist Party, Bloc of Litvin and the Communist Party. The statement was made by head of board of Shevchenko Institute for Political and Sociological Studies  Vladimir Bondarenko at a news conference called “Electoral preferences of the people at the finish of early parliamentary elections 2007.”

A REGNUM correspondent quotes Bondarenko as saying that 31.3% of voters are ready to vote for the Regions Party today, 22% for BYT, Our Ukraine – People’s Defense can have 12%, the Socialists 5.1%, Litvin’s Bloc 4.3% and the Communists 3.6%. The three-percent barrier will not be overcome by the Progressive Socialist Party and Svoboda Party that gained by 2.2% of votes each. 3.1% would rather vote against all parties, only 2.9% of voters have not determined their electoral preferences yet. According to the investigation, 70.1% voters are ready to go to polling stations at the early parliamentary elections, 20.5% would rather not do it.

Besides, for the first time in history of polls, more than a half of the respondents (50.1%) informed that they supported the idea of the early parliamentary elections. Proportion of those who would rather not support the idea or do not support it categorically has decreased and now is 38.6% of respondents.

The poll was conducted in all Ukrainian provinces from August 29 to September 4, 2007; 2,024 respondents were questioned. Statistical error is 2.2%.
