Official Yerevan agrees with proposals of mediators regarding Nagorno Karabakh status
Armenia’s position in the question of settlement is unchanged: there can be no independence to independence of the NKR, president’s spokesman Viktor Sogomonyan said today commenting on a statement made by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov that if the Armenian side agrees with OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs’ proposal of settling the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, it will be a serious breakthrough.
A REGNUM correspondent quotes Sogomonyan as saying that he did not understand what the Azerbaijani foreign minister meant in particular. If he meant the NKR status, unconditionally, we do agree. If he meant anything else, I can only the following: if someone does not want to have talks with or discuss the clauses of the document on the negotiation table not during the talks, but via the media, nothing can be done here, as it is a question of means, he said stressing again that Armenia’s position on the issue of Nagorno Karabakh remains unchanged.
