Kaliningrad Region. Prosecutor’s Office Instigated Case against Officials Who Left Sovetsk Residents without Heat
The Sovetsk Prosecutor’s Office instigated a criminal case against officials of the city administration according to Article 293 of the Russian Criminal Code (negligence). Earlier, the REGNUM News Agency reported about the disaster of a technological character in the city of Sovetsk. 8,000 people, 20 schools and kindergartens were left without heat. This was caused by a complete stop of the power supplying station of the Sovetsk pulp and paper plant. As they reported in the city Prosecutor’s Office «officials of the Sovetsk city administration turned out to fail to fulfill their direct duties». Several forms of punishment vary from 200 minimum salaries up to one-year correctional work. But so far, the official of the Prosecutor’s Office do not name exact persons.
