Russian foreign minister believes resolving the Mideast conflict is possible
Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov announced a t a news conference at the United Nations yesterday after a meeting the Mideast mediators quartet that sale of Russian weapons to Syria does not violate the balance of forces in the Middle East area. Everything we sell is completely transparent, meets our international obligations and our legislation in the filed of export control, one of the toughest in the world; while choosing the nomenclature of our exports we do not permit those that would break the balance of forces in the region, Lavrov said.
In its contracts to sell arms to Syria, Russia prohibits reselling weapons, RG quotes the Russian foreign minister as saying. The mechanism of inspection may be conducted without right of refusal is active regarding Syria in order to make it sure where the weapons are at any moment.
According to the minister, if the USA and international mediators manage to engage all countries (evidently, meaning Syria and Iran), in the foreseeable future one can speak of a true conflict settlement in the Middle East.
