Yushchenko puts responsibility for fair elections upon Yanukovich
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko had a meeting with Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich under an initiative of the latter.
As a REGNUM correspondent was told at the press office of the Ukrainian president, during the meeting the president noted that the current authorities must spare no effort to secure that the elections to the Supreme Rada on September 30 are fair, transparent, without violations, with high measure of responsibility towards the democratic process of expressing people’s will. As for possible election fraud, of which some political forces have been speaking recently, Viktor Yushchenko stressed: The government must acknowledge its high mission and responsibility to protect the law, the legal order and prevent from falsifications.
