Russian MP: I expect nothing good from coalition of Timoshenko and Yushchenko
Russian State Duma First Deputy Chair Lyubov Sliska announced that she does not expect anything good from a possible coalition of Yulia Timoshenko and Viktor Yushchenko. As a REGNUM correspondent informs, commenting on the September 30 parliamentary elections in Ukraine, Sliska said: I do not expect anything god from the coalition, because Yushchenko and Timoshenko said they would move towards NATO.
The MP noted that the coalition gains majority at the Ukrainian parliament, if Timoshenko’s bloc and Our Ukraine combine their effort. However, they have already done it, and went under the same slogans in 2004, ran for the parliament in 2006, but the Ukrainian people did not receive the consolation prize promised to them at the election campaign. I suppose, if the situation repeats, the Maidan will not end up its carnival soon. I would prefer that politicians do not forget promises given by them. It is fraught with political failure in the long run, Sliska said.
The early parliamentary elections were held in Ukraine on September 30. The Central Election Commission is still counting ballots.
By present time the votes are divided as follows: 34.14% received by the Regions Party, 30.83% of voters chose Yulia Timoshenko’s Bloc; 14.31% gave their votes to the pro-presidential Our Ukraine-People’s Defense. Besides, the Communist Party receives 5.36%, Litvin’s Bloc 3.67%, the Socialist Party 2.92%. Least protocols are counted in Crimea (89%), Sevastopol and Kiev (by 87%) and Zaporozhye (90%).
