Ukrainian president poses tasks to yet unformed coalition
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko made public his vision of priority tasks for the parliamentary coalition that will be formed in the near future and for the government, a REGNUM correspondent informs.
The first thing is to adopt an economic program of the country’s development, stop the growth of prices using only market tools and equalize, optimize revenues of the people. A new government must demonstrate a new quality of the social policy in the country. The second thing is to alleviate the immunity of deputies and privileges. The third thing is to draft and adopt the state budget law for 2008 with taking into account fully initiatives of the Ukrainian president. I will not consider a draft budget law, if it does not send money from abolished privileges of the members of parliament are not sent for social payments. The fourth thing is to approve the package of anti-corruption initiatives and establish a national anti-corruption agency. I point it out: the law will be the same for everyone! The fifth thing is to secure energy safety of the country, the Ukrainian president announced.
Besides, I would like to remind: we do remember that the political reform of 2004 became the detonator of the political crisis. So, without changing the constitution, it will be difficult to maintain political stability. That is why 2008 must be given up to the new constitutional process and adoption of a new Ukrainian constitution, the president concluded.
