Ukrainian Regions Party cannot imagine itself as opposition

The Regions Party as a winner of the September 30 parliamentary elections speaks for forming such a coalition that would reflect interests of most voters, says a statement released by the Regions Party today, a REGNUM correspondent reports.

“Neglect of the choice of the Ukrainian people, 8mn of whom voted for the Regions Party will inevitably result in collapse of the economy, civilian order and political stability in the country. Irresponsible politicians, who place their ambitions and appetites above the national interest, are instigating a deep crisis in the Ukrainian society again. They hear no president’s calls for national reconciliation and disregard his claims to sit to the negotiation table with all parliamentary forces for the sake of the country and its citizens,” the statement runs. At the same time, the Regions Party expressed concern about “numerous facts of violations at the elections and during the ballot counting made public by political forces participating in the election process.” “We are sure that every of the facts must have juridical assessment,” the Regions Party believes.

The party insists that national mutual understanding is needed in order to unite the Ukrainian people and establishing effective government. “We are calling for it all truly patriotic and responsible political forces in Ukraine,” says the statement.

On October 15, Yulia Timoshenko’s Bloc and Our Ukraine – People’s Defense Bloc initialed an agreement on establishing a parliamentary coalition at the new Supreme Rada.
