Iran proposes to Russia to construct two more NPPs in its territory
The second summit of Caspian nations initiated large-scale extension of the economic relations between Russia and Iran, director of the Russian Centre for Contemporary Iranian Studies Radzhab Safarov announced at a news conference in Moscow on results of a visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Tehran, reports a REGNUM correspondent.
The Iranian president, taking into account the successive experience in Russia constructing the Bushehr NPP, proposed to Russia to construct two more nuclear power plants in Iran. Estimated cost of the two projects is $4bn. This will give a powerful momentum to development of our nuclear industry, the expert said.
A memorandum on trade and economic and social and political cooperation between Russia and Iran was elaborated; it is planned to be signed in November, Safarov noted. If the agreements reached at the summit between Russia and Iran are implemented, Russia and Iran will be soon dominating and determining the energy policy towards Europe and the world as well, Radzhab Safarov concluded.
