Opinion: Russia-EU summit will probably find ways to deal with Kosovo
Hopefully, the ongoing Russia-EU summit will probably find ways of dealing with Kosovo crisis, First Deputy Chair of the Russian State Duma Committee for Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky told a REGNUM correspondent today. European politicians gave it to understand that the question can be settled through negotiations only and via mutual compromises between Belgrade and Pristina, Slutsky said.
The MP reiterated that Martti Ahtisaari’s plan for Kosovo conflict settlement is inadmissible. Implementation of the plan will result in a series of national sovereignties, Slutsky said and added that such scenario can be negatively used in Karabakh, Abkhazia, Transdnestr, Spain, Ireland and so on. The world will plunge into a complete local ethnic conflict, Slutsky announced.
The Kosovo question is on the agenda of the Russia-EU summit in Portugal. Besides, the question of investments between Europe and Russia will be discussed at the summit.
