Mikhail Saakashvili: Georgia’s opponents are trying to derail early presidential elections
Georgia’s opponents are trying to destabilize the situation and derail the extraordinary presidential elections planned for January 5, 2008, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili announced at a meeting at Tbilisi city administration on November 20. However, we shall not let it happen, neither the Georgian people will do. We must show to the whole world that we are an organized nation capable of sorting out problems, he stressed.
At the same time, Saakashvili noted that that organizers of the November 7 opposition rally managed to achieve their goals partially. Because of the events, Georgia has lost several millions dollars in the form of investments, and all that affected the country’s economy, Saakashvili is quoted as saying by Kavkaz-Press.
