Rinat Akhmetov ready to work in opposition (Ukraine)
The Regions Party won the early parliamentary elections in September 2007, but it is ready to work in opposition, said Ukrainian MP, member of the Regions Party parliamentary faction Rinat Akhmetov, reports a REGNUM correspondent.
Our party has won the elections, but the result might prevent us from forming a coalition. However, wherever we are, either in the opposition or in the coalition, we shall do our job properly, Rinat Akhmetov announced stressing that he was ready to go to the opposition. Theoretically, BYT and Our Ukraine have 228 seats together. If they build a coalition, we shall respect their decision and we shall be in the opposition, he said.
Rinat Akhmetov also mentioned that President Yushchenko did not promise a wide coalition after the lections during the talks in full swing of the political crisis in summer. The president never promised this. There has ever been no talk about that, the Ukrainian tycoon said.
