Georgian Central Election Commission registers application from Azerbaijani presidential contender
First time in Georgia’s post-Soviet history, a candidate from the Azerbaijani community will be able to run for presidency. The Georgian Central Election Commission registered an application of an Azerbaijani presidential contender, Fazil Aliyev, a REGNUM correspondent is told by President of the Georgian National Assembly Dashgyn Gyulmamedov.
He emphasized that effort of all media that took an objective approach in covering the condition of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia, their fight for the rights, cannot be underestimated in making the Georgian authorities accept the application of Fazil Aliyev, who is, mildly speaking, is not a wanted person fro the Georgian leadership. Now, we need to collect enough votes to register Aliyev as presidential contender, Gyulmamedov said.
