Parliamentary coalition established at Ukrainian parliament
A parliamentary coalition has been established at the sixth Ukrainian Supreme Rada by Yulia Timoshenko’s Bloc BYT and the pro-presidential Our Ukraine – People’s Defense bloc; the coalition includes 228 MPs. The decision of the factions was announced at today’s session of the parliament by the head of the provisional presidium of the parliament Roman Zvarych, a REGNUM correspondent informs.
After making the statement on the coalition, Zvarych announced a break in the session. We shall have a joint meeting with BYT now, during which we shall officially formalize the signatures we collected and hand them over to the secretariat of the Supreme Rada to be registered, he said. Earlier, answering a question on the sidelines whether Ukrainian Foreign Minster Arseny Yatsenyuk can become the chair of the parliament, Zvarych said it was inappropriate to discuss the issue in the moment, as the foreign minister is on a foreign visit now. Such decisions will not be made without Yatsenyuk, the Our Ukraine – People’s Defense spokesman concluded.
