Opposition collects signatures to support presidential candidate Levan Gachechiladze
United opposition in Georgia has already gathered over 50, 000 signatures supporting presidential candidate Levan Gachechiladze, REGNUM reports one of the coalition leaders, conservative Kakha Kukava to tell journalists Dec 4.
Meanwhile, the process of collecting signatures in Tbilisi and in the regions is being continued, and the lists are supposed to be submitted to Georgian CEC within days, Kukava said. According to the published by Georgian CEC schedule of events preparing presidential election of Jan 5 2008, the deadline for submitting signatures supporting presidential contenders is Dec 6. Currently, only the United National Movement has submitted its lists supporting their candidate Mikhail Saakashvili. Forms for the collection of signatures were given out to 19 nominees for Georgian presidency.
