Armenia bans poultry imports from Russia
Imports of poultry from Russia have been completely banned by Armenia because of a bird flu outbreak in Russia’s Rostov region. As a REGNUM correspondent is told at the section for coordinating border check-points of the Armenian Agriculture Ministry Alexan Alexanyan, the ban was caused by bird flu outbreaks in Russian provinces. A month ago, before the ban was imposed, the Armenian side prohibited import of poultry products from Moscow Region, and four days ago – from Rostov Region, because bird flu pestholes were registered there, he said. Armenia does not import poultry from Russia, the ban is stipulated by increased measures to prevent from the virus getting into the country.
Besides, poultry import from Poland, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and other countries is banned into Armenia.
