Arkhangelsk city mayor gives up his idea to run for Russia’s presidency
Arkhangelsk City Mayor Alexander Donskoy has to give up his idea to register as a presidential contender, a REGNUM correspondent is told at Alexander Donskoy’s press office.
As the said at the press office, the mayor decided to abandon his initiative to run for the Russian presidency, because a tough administrative blockade was imposed upon him. In particular, as they told the REGNUM correspondent, supporters of the mayor cannot conduct an assembly to start collecting signatures for his support. Earlier, an assembly was planned to be held at Severny cultural center, but its administration decided to break the agreement. Other centers in the city refused to provide their audiences either.
In fact, it is not Donskoy announcing his refusal, but it was a fact he was facing, said a spokesman for the press office, Oleg Grigorash.
