Ukrainian think-tank: None of presidential contenders in Georgia obtained more than 50% of votes

Leonid Belousov, president of the Ukrainian Information Analytical Center “Common European Case” that held an exit poll on the voting day on January 5, announced at a news conference in Tbilisi that none of the presidential contenders received more than 50% of the voters, a REGNUM correspondent informs.

According to Belousov, the ratings of the candidates are the following:

candidate from the united opposition Levan Gachechiladze (31%), leader of the United National Movement Party Mikhail Saakashvili (24.4%), businessman Arkady (Badri) Patarkatsishvili (20.3%), leader of the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili (12.4%), leader of the New Rights Party David Gamkrelidze (7.3%), leader of the Party of Future Giorgi Maisashvili (0.6%), leader of Imedi Party Irina Sarishvili (0.6%). Two more percent of the respondents said they were voting against all, 1.1% refused to answer the questions.

According to the expert, the data was received as a result of polling about 10,000 people at 200 polling stations; statistical error is up to 3.9%. Leonid Belousov announced the information on who was the contractor of the poll would be announced after the final outcomes are made public. According to the Georgian law, a presidential contender needs to win more than 50% to win the race; otherwise, a run-off is to be called.
